Racecadotril (acetorphan) in the treatment of acute watery diarrhoea in children [letter]

2002
This results in less use of oral rehydration solution less use of antibiotics (which are any way useless in rotavirus infection) and no imminent need to hospitalise the child. On an average the child passes formed stool in less than 28 hours. The drug has been tried in a developing country (Lima-Peru) with very good results. Let us hope the drug industry in India accepts the challenge and introduce the drug soon in our country for us to derive the benefits of its use. (excerpt)
