The Lessons From 8 Years' Operation Ot A First-Generation North Sea Platform And Planning To Its End-Ot-Field Lite

1986
Two clear lessons have evolved from the eight years of operation of the Thistle North Sea Platform: that such a facility cannot be operated in the Northern North Sea for a 25-year life without further investment, and that a plan is required to ensure a cost-effective engineering programme though the field's declining production years. The major capital outlays incurred since installation are reviewed, and the development of a "Life-of-Field" study aimed at reducing future engineering, maintenance, and diving costs is described.
