Antibiotic resistance of N. gonorrhoeae in Jamaica - abstract

1985
The first fifty patients undergoing flexible fibreoptic bronchoscopy at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Barbados, are presented. The technique is described briefly and the indications and bronchoscopic diagnosis analysed. The commonest indications were haemoptysis, cough and abnormal chest X-ray findings. The bronchoscopic diagnoses were numerous and varied, the commonest being pulmonary infections (17) and tumours (15). There were no major complications, the procedure was well tolerated. It is concluded that fibreoptic bronchoscopy is a cost-effective and useful diagnostic investigation in the Caribbean (AU)
