Identifying Bottleneck Process Using Production Time Study in Concrete Pole Manufacturing Company in Malaysia

2020
In the production line, productivity is the key towards maximum efficiency. Time study is the technique of establishing an allowed time standard to perform a given task based on the prescribed method. This study employs the use of a time study to measure the time taken to conduct six processes in the production of concrete poles in order to identify the bottleneck in each process. This determines the best way to execute repetitive tasks and to measure the time spent by an average worker to complete a given task in the workplace. The identification of bottleneck allows for the proposal of improvements that resolve the disruptions in the production line. The data needed for this study was obtained from a concrete poles manufacturing company in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan. The findings show that the implementation of time study contributes positively towards identifying bottleneck and achieving productivity.
