Synthesis and characteristics of mixed ligand Ru(III) complexes with EDTA-polypyridyl, and Pt/TiO2/RuO2 semiconductor particulate system modified by the complexes

Abstract The mixed ligand complexes K[Ru III (EDTA)(bipy)] ( 1 ) and K[Ru III (EDTA)( o -Phen)] ( 2 ) (EDTA, ethylenediaminetetraacetate; bipy, bipyridine; o -Phen, o -phenanthroline) were synthesized and characterized by physicochemical methods. Their redox and photophysical properties were studied. The kinetic and equilibrium data for the formation of these mixed ligand complexes are reported. Surface modification of a TiO 2 semiconductor was CO 2 was achieved at an energy lower than the band gap energy of TiO 2 .
