An Overview of control strategies with emphasis on demand response for stability and reliability enhancement of Microgrids

Real time effective power management is offered by Microgrids (MG) where the aim is to provide finest management of energy and its supply among resources, storage elements and loads. Grid voltage fluctuation is a huge problem that is caused by Power imbalance in the grid, which can adversely affect the reliability of the MG and may damage the loads. This paper discusses different strategies for power management in the MGs, their classification and review. Emphasis will be given to hierarchical control strategies, which offers reliable and cost-effective solutions and thus are more suitable for prevailing situation in Pakistan and remote places.
