Neutrophil lysosomal degradation of human CRP: CRP-derived peptides modulate neutrophil function.

1988
SUMMARY Hydrolysis ofhumanC-reactive protein (CRP)atpH 45andpH 7-4withneutrophil-derived lysosomal enzymesyielded 10%trichloroacetic acidsoluble peptides (Mr 14,000). CRP peptides (Mr<14,000) alsocaused a dose-related inhibition ofQuin-2 fluorescence indicating interference withintracellular calcium movementsduring cell activation. Theseresults point toa potential regulatory roleforCRP-derived degradation products on neutrophils during inflammation.
