The invention relates to the field of electrical engineering. The technical result consists in increasing the speed of active power correction without reducing the quality of the electrical energy and the stability margin of a power system. The method consists in that, during the correction of the active power flow between parts of the power system which are connected by an electrical transmission line (1), the active power imbalance on the shaft (11) of a generator set is monitored, and the active power flow on the line (1) is adjusted by correcting the phase angle between the voltage phasors at the terminal points of said line on buses (2) and (3) by means of a controllable phase-shifting device (12), which is connected into the line (1). A limited time interval is selected in which the imbalance of the active power is compensated for by switching an electrical energy store (7) to discharge or charge mode in the case of insufficient or excess active power, respectively, and the power balance is recovered by adjusting the power generated by the generator set accordingly.
