A polypyrrole-based solid phase extraction for determination of eight B-complex vitamins from infant formula

2021
This paper reported a simple, sensitive and environmental-friendly packed nanofiber-based solid phase extraction (PFSPE) technique for the extraction of eight water-soluble B-complex vitamins from infant formula products. The developed PFSPE technique used core/sheath polystyrene/polypyrrole (PS/PPy) nanofibers as adsorbents, and the process involved boric acid compound as complexing reagent which formed conjugated compounds with targets. The PS/PPy nanofibers were prepared in situ polymerization of PPy on the surface of PS nanofibers fabricated by electrospinning. Pretreated samples were analyzed with High Performance Liquid Chromatography coupled with UV Detector system (HPLC–UV). Method validation obtained the intra- precision at 0.6–17.1% and inter-day precision at 0.9–18.2%, respectively, the limits of detection between 0.25 and 0.9 μg g−1, and the linear range of the calibration curves at 0.25–250 μg g−1, and relative recoveries from 76.3 to 126.0%.
