Current state of antibiotic resistance to Helicobacter pylori and strategies to deal with that resistance

2013
The resistance of Helicobacter pylori to antibiotics, and especially resistance to multiple drugs,is a serious matter. There are regional and population differences in the state of H.pylori resistance and patterns of resistance. The unacceptable performance of conventional triple therapy has been accompanied by a progressive increase in the prevalence of antimicrobial resistance. As alternative treatment options, quadruple therapies have limited effectiveness against multi-drug resistance.Tailored treatment is the most effective therapy for H.pylori eradication in highly resistant populations.
