SMALL SAMPLE ANALYSIS OF CIVIL ENGINEERING STRUCTURE PERFORMANCE INDEX VALUES AND ITS APPLICATION

Because of the character of civil engineering structures,the data of performance index which can be obtained in the actual test is usually small.Ordinary statistical methods are not fully applicable.Small sample analysis should be carried out.Normality test method for the small sample is proposed in this paper.For the small sample which is supposed to fit Normal Distribution,the interval estimation of mean value and standard deviation is studied.For the small sample which is supposed to fit Uniform Distribution,the method of obtaining parameters is proposed.The choice of significance level under the condition of small sample is discussed,too.Consequently,with the natural frequency calculation problem as example,the above methods are applied to the practice.It is proved that the work in this paper can enhance the veracity and rationality of structure performance analysis.
