Novel mesoporous Al-doped TiO2 with improved lithium storage performance

Abstract A kind of mesoporous Al-doped TiO2 with high specific surface area (223.4–336.0 m2 g−1) was prepared by a simple sol-gel process and presented an improved lithium storage performance compared with that of the mesoporous TiO2. The alcoholysis and condensation of AlCl3 in ethanol introduced/doped the Al3+ ions into the anatase lattice, which stabilized the anatase nanocrystals and introduced oxygen vacancies in the materials, giving an improved specific surface area and reduced impedance of the material and electrode.
