One-dimensional model of convection during thermal migration

2006
A one-dimensional model of thermal migration in a flat solution-melt zone with allowance for the convective mass transfer is suggested. The finite difference method is used to go over to a discrete model. Results of a numerical experiment on the study of the convection influence on the thermal migration velocity of liquid-phase inclusions in the crystal are presented. It is demonstrated that the influence of convection, insignificant for small thickness of the liquid zones, sharply increases when this thickness increases above a certain critical value proportional to the solution-melt viscosity.
