Modified P&O MPPT Boost Converter and Voltage control Inverter based Island Solar PV with Power quality analysis under the varying load and changing weather condition

2020
The Solar Photo Voltaic (SPV) output is greatly affected by varying weather conditions. The weather condition parameter that is temperature and Irradiance is uncontrollable. Therefore different MPPT techniques are used to withdraw the maximum power from the operating point of the SPV. Convention Perturb and Observe (P& O) is a very popular MPPT technique but its output power oscillate and falls under the mistracking of MPP under rapidly changing atmospheric Irradiation. This paper uses a modified P& O (MP& O) method to get the maximum power from the SPV. A DC-DC boost converter is used to provide the required output which is injected to operate a DC-AC inverter of island SPV. The MP& O is implemented to control both SPV and boost converter termed as input side control. A three-phase Phase Locked Loop (PLL), park transformation and, PI controller based voltage control scheme is used to control the voltage frequency under load varying conditions which is termed as the load side control. The presence of a non-linear or unbalanced load produces harmonics in the inverter. An LC-based filter is used to control the harmonic distortion under a specified limit. The MATLAB testbed is used to produce the three-phase output power from the SPV.
