NATURAL DISASTER MANAGEMENT BASED ON LOCAL WISDOM OF INDIGENOUS PEOPLE IN TERNATE CITY NORTH MALUKU

Introduction: Last in four years (2010-2015) occurred several natural disasters such as landslides, fires, tornados, tidal waves, floods, cold lava, a tectonic earthquake, eruption of Gamalama mountain, and forest fires in Ternate needed of attention and commitment from government and the public to prevent the impact of natural disasters. The purpose of this study was identification and analysis disaster management based on local wisdom of indigenous people in Ternate city. Method, This research was study design using qualitative research design with an interpretive phenomenological approach. Located of this research was in Ternate City. Participants were selected by snowball sampling and purposive sampling. Technique of data collection was done by deep interviews during 40 minute, observation and documentation. Data analysis was used Van Manen technique. Result of the interview then analyzed using hermeneutic approach to obtain the key themes. Result, Disaster management based on local wisdom of indigenous people in Ternate city in 2016 has a wide range of circumstances in which, such as introduction about signs of natural disasters, preparedness communities, public perception, community action, and condition after disaster and people's expectations after disaster about prevention of natural disasters. Result of research made a model, was to develop from a model of cultural nursing care by Leininger. The model was developed based on the findings was Sun Runis Model: natural disaster management of local wisdom. This research becomes a reference for disaster management, especially in Ternate city.Conclusion, Development of model created with the name "Sun Runis Model". Models made and faced by society needs to rationalize based on theory and science. Result of research can acceptance of society and government will be important recommendations for further action.
