Server serial port design system and method

The invention provides a design method of a server serial port, and the method is operated in a base-plate management controller (BMC). The method comprises the following steps of: setting a VUART and a soft MUX (multiplexer), and setting the soft MUX value to ensure the VUART to realize the function of the system serial port of a server, the function of a BMC serial port and the function of a BMC SOL (serial over LAN) respectively; receiving a command sent to the server from the communication serial port of the server periodically; when the received command is not an IPMI (intelligent platform management interface) command, switching the soft MUX value to be 0, and controlling the VUART to realize the function of the system serial port; and when the received command is not an SOL instruction, switching the soft MUX value to be 1, controlling the VUART to realize the function of the BMC serial port, and when the received command is the SOL instruction, switching the soft MUX value to be 2 and controlling the VUART to realize the function of the BMC SOL. The invention also provides a design system of the server serial port.
