Soldier-in-the-loop target acquisition performance model of IR imaging system

Soldier-in-the-loop target acquisition performance model plays a very important role on infrared imaging system analysis,system design and performance evaluation.With forty years development,however,the research on such subject shows us yet unclearly the limitations for the application of the model,to what extent the model can be used,and where is the breakthrough direction for the development of the model.Consequently,from the point view of building model,the basis of building the model was discussed,it was pointed out that the information processing mechanism of human eyes and the quantitative description of background clutter on the target acquisition performance were the critical factors in the development of the target acquisition model.The issues involved in the development of the model,the means of solving problems and the branch points of the model were also introduced.Finally,the method and the process of the model validation and the issues on how to improve the target acquisition model were also discussed.
