The ozonization of naphthalene and its homologues: (Remarks on a paper by J. P. Wibaut and J. van Dijk, “The ozonization of 2,3-dimethylnaphthalene” etc.)†

Some amplifying remarks are made on the paper by Wibaut and van Dijk concerning the ozonization of 2,3-dimethylnaphthalene and 1,4-dimethylnaphthalene. It is shown that the experimental results may be interpreted in accordance with former conclusions regarding the bond structure of the naphthalene molecule, viz. that a double bond seems to be available at the α,β-positions only.
