Experimental investigation on 15 GHz band integrated front-end module including antenna and filter for 5G mobile communications systems

This paper proposes an integrated module configuration including a slot antenna and a substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) filter for a vehicular transceiver. It is very important that the vehicular transceiver provides lower profile and lighter weight because of installing for an automobile roof. The proposed configuration only employs one print board where one side has the slot antenna and the opposite side has the SIW filter. In order to investigate, a 15 GHz band proposed module is fabricated. Experimental results confirm that the fabricated module offers the frequency characteristics of gain attained by the proposed configuration. This investigation leads to extremely lower profile and lighter weight of vehicular transceiver.
