Domestic sanitary tissue

2005
The present invention provided a domestic sanitary tissue which has softness and which is uniformly reduced in the strike-through of water with the water absorbing capacity of the tissue being kept at such a level that the tissue can function as sanitary tissue. A domestic sanitary tissue having a water absorption speed of 3.5 to 35 seconds and a water penetration of six sheets or less is obtained by incorporating a pulp slurry with 0.02 to 0.5 wt% (in terms of solid matter based on the pulp dry weight of the pulp slurry) of a water repellant consisting of a quaternary ammonium salt having alkyl and/or alkenyl or 0.02 to 0.06 wt% (in terms of solid matter based on the pulp dry weight of the pulp slurry) of a sizing agent in the paper making step. It is preferable from the standpoint of the softness that the water repellant be dimethylmonoalkylammonium halide or trimethylmonoalkyl- ammonium halide.
