Relationship Between Polymorphisms of Estrogen Receptor Gene with Bone Mineral Density in Postmenopausal Women

2005
Objective To Investigate the XbaI polymorphisms of estrogen receptor gene in postmenopausal womenand to study the relationship between the polymorphisms with the bone mineral density (BMD). Methods 157postmenopausal women (aged 42~75 years) in Guangzhou city were studied. The genotypes estrogen receptorgene were detected by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism ( PCR-RELP). BMDof Total ,lumbar , Inter, Trach, vertebrae , femur neck and ward's was measured by dual-energy X-rayabsorptiometry (DEXA) . Results The distribution of the genotype is as following: XX: 13, 8.3%;Xx:67, 42.7%; xx: 77, 49.0%. The frequencies distribution of XbaI alleles followed the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. The mean BMD was no significant difference among the three genotypes. Conclusion there is nocorrelations between the XbaI polymorphisms of ER gene and BMD, and the polymorphisms was not susceptiblefactors of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women in Guangzhou city.
