La plaza frente al Colegio de San Gregorio de Valladolid. Significado y antecedentes de un proyecto urbano ignorado

The article studies the square opened in front of the facade of the college of San Gregorio, about 1492. Is presented an interpretation of the origin of this urban project based in the Dominican tradition of creation of wide spaces for the preaching beside their temples. Is analyzed the final formalization of the space, built without any geometric regularity or architectural definition of fronts, which does not reduce his high value as typological precendent for new spaces in the baroque town
