Long continuous FeNi nanowires inside carbon nanotubes: Synthesis, property and application
2008
Abstract A novel process for in situ filling of long continuous FeNi nanowires into thin-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) is reported, which is achieved by simply using chlorine-contained benzene, C 6 H 3 Cl 3 , as the carbon precursor. The length of FeNi nanowires encapsulated in CNTs is up to ∼4 μm, which is increased by an order of magnitude compared with those of previous reports (lengths T c ) of 640 °C. Theoretical calculations show that this kind of materials is promising and can be used as an effective microwave absorber with a thinner coating layer.
