Innovation in the United States Air Force: Evidence from Six Cases

Abstract : Air Force senior leaders have initiated a conversation about what can and should be done to make the service more innovative. The purpose of this report is to contribute to that conversation by assessing a series of historical cases of Air Force innovation, or apparent failure to innovate, in the context of the scholarly literature on military innovation. Our primary aim is to inform Air Force efforts to make the service more innovative.
