Spectroscopic Investigation of the Interaction Between Xenobiotic Substrates and Clay Materials
1993
For the assessment of contamination risks to plants and ground-waters, a better knowledge of the mobility and bioavailability of trace elements and substrates in soils is very important. Numerous studies have been performed at a macroscopic level in order to determine the influence of various physico-chemical parameters of the environment on the fixed amount; but an understanding of the various mechanisms of fixation at the molecular level would allow to have a better control of adsorption and desorption. The location and the physico-chemical state of a pesticide molecule interacting with clay minerals, is studied by using vibrational spectroscopy, and the results are compared with X ray and adsorption isotherms data.
