Cisto Sinovial Cervica. Relato de Caso

2019
Introduction: Synovial cysts are benign extradural lesions characterized by a lining of synovial epithelium containing clear or xanthochromic fluid. They are presented as a herniation of the joint capsule of the degenerative intervertebral facet. They may develop from any joint lined by synovial membrane or tendinous sheath, being relatively uncommon in the spine and rare in cervical topography. Objective: To describe a case of cervical synovial cyst in a patient with sustained painful radiculopathy and to discuss the surgical approach in these cases. Methods: Data collection from the patient’s chart and literature review in the Virtual Health Library (VHL) databases were performed. Results: Through the surgical approach with the accomplishment of C6 hemilaminectomy on the left, the cyst exeresis was obtained, contributing to improve the patient’s quality of life, which evolved masymptomatic in the postoperative period. Conclusion: Since reported cases of cervical synovial cysts occurred at the C7 / T1 level, the formation of this entity at the C6 / C7 level should be considered as distinct, particularly in patients with suspected intervertebral disc herniation. Thus, due to the persistence of the symptoms in the patient, surgical resection proved to be effective and with a good postoperative result, being also a good alternative.
