Les objectifs de la conservation et de la restauration de l'art forain

The restoration campaign undertaken in relation to a Paris exhibition of art forain (art used at fairs) raises a set of specific issues on the conservation and restoration of these ethnographic objects. The objects are first characterized, and four approaches to an ethnological intervention are delineated. The objective is to treat the objects as well as to restore the surrounding atmosphere. Interdisciplinary steps and advanced documentation systems are recommended for implementing the goals of this research.
