Serotype of Salmonella Isolated from Patients in Songkhla, Trang, Chumphon, Phang-nga and Phuket Provinces, 2002 (ชีโรทัยป์ของเชื้อซัลโมเนลล่าที่แยกได้จากผู้ป่วยใน จังหวัดสงขลา ตรัง ชุมพร พังงา และภูเก็ต ปี พ.ศ. ๒๕๔๕)

2013
A total of 730 samples Salmonella strains isolated from patients were serotyped to identify the predominant serotypes of Salmonella in patients hospitalized in Songkhla, Trang, Chumphon, Phang-nga and Phuket provinces in 2002. The strains were classified according to the types of specimens as follows: 698 strains from stool, 26 from blood, 3 from pus, 2 from urine and 1 from sputum. The strains were classified into 60 serotypes, of which Weltevreden was the most predominant (28.7 percent), followed by 6.7 percent of Enteritidis and Paratyphi B Variety Java. In stool cultures, serotype Weltevreden could be identified in 30.1 percent of the isolated Salmonella. In 53.8 percent of salmonella species isolated from hemocultures, there were Enteritidis. This serotype was also identified in two/thirds of the pus cultures, while Typhimurium and Albany serotype were present in both urine cultures. In sputum, Salmonella enterica subspecies enterica serovar 4, 5, 12: i: - were identified. This results indicate the important and frequent serotypes of Salmonella spp. isolated from patients in 5 provinces in the South of Thailand.
