Use of an inhibitor of poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) in the manufacture of a medicament for use in a method of treatment of deficient cancer repair pathway dependent DNA DSB by HR in an individual, in the the PARP inhibitor is selected from the group consisting of: nicotinamides, benzamides other than 3-aminobenzamide, isoquinolinones, dihidroisoquinolinonas, benzimidazoles, other than indoles benzimidazole-carboxamides, other than a lactam indole tricyclic having the structure; wherein R1 is H and R2 is 4'-H, 4'-Cl, 4'-F, 4'-CH 2 N (CH 3) 2 or 3'CH2N (CH3) 2, phthalazinones, quinazolinones, other than quinazolin-4- [3H] -one isoindolinones, phenanthridines, fenantridinonas, various 6 (5H) fenantridinona, benzopyrones, unsaturated hydroximic acid derivatives, piradizinas, caffeine, theophylline, and thymidine.
