P‐35: Simulation Study of Light Emission of a Backlight System with a Broad Band Cholesteric Liquid Crystal Polarizer

We analyzed the light emission from a backlight system with a cholesteric broad band polarizer by using Berrman 4×4 method. We found that light intensity in directions with polar angle smaller than 30°o was increased and higher than the back light system with only a linear polarizer. We also designed a light recycling backlight system and calculated the light efficiency.
