Structures of Highly Fluorinated Compounds of Layered Carbon

2017
Abstract Structures of highly fluorinated layered carbons, (CF) n , (C2F) n , and C x F are examined in detail mostly by means of neutron diffraction studies. Carbon–carbon and carbon–fluorine bond distances are precisely determined. It has been elucidated that the carbon layers in C x F are partially puckered to form sp 3 carbons and C— F bonds are essentially covalent.
