Influence of Ultraviolet Irradiation on Timolol Permeability Through Rat Skin
1999
OBJECTIVES:To study the influence of UV irradiation on drug permeation through skin.METHODS:The in vivo or in vitro permeability of rat skin was investigated by using timolol as model drug after irradiation with UV ray for 6 to 24 h.RESULTS and CONCLUSTIONS:The results showed that UV irradiation for 24h in vivo significantly increased the TM permeation through rat skin. It suggests that exposure to UV ray might result in disorder of physiological functions of skin. The influence of in vitro irradiation on skin was not so great.UV protecting effect was observed after a commercial sunlight care cream was applied on mouse skin in vivo.
