Figurative Series in Spatial Analysis of Situations

2021
The paper considers the problem of analyzing spatial situations, which are represented by means of a geographic information system. A situation is a set of cartographic objects and relations that reflect an applied problem in the form of a fragment of a map or diagram. The purpose of spatial analysis is to find a solution to a problem and plot it on a map. The solution is constructed from cartographic objects and relationships. The main difficulty in obtaining a result is uncertainty and incompleteness of information. For this reason, the process of building a solution is exploratory in nature. The paper proposes the concept of series of images, reflecting the experience of decision-making. The figurative series is built from interconnected elements, each of which is a two-component image of the spatial situation. The first component is a precedent observed earlier in the situation, the second is the permissible transformations that preserve the meaning of the situation in a given context. The paper deals with the properties of spatial situational images and image series built from these images. The use of image series by the recommendation geoinformation system is studied.
