Expression and significance of c-erbB-2 and TopoIIα in Breast Cancer

Objective:To evaluate the clinicopathological significance of expressions of c-erbB-2,DNA topoisomeraseⅡα(TopoⅡα) in breast cancer.Methods:seventy-two cases of paraffin-embedded specimens of breast carcinoma were studied by immunohistochemical technique.Results:The positive rates of c-erbB-2 and TopoⅡα were 29.2%(21/72),59.7%(43/72) respectively.The expressions of c-erbB-2 were positively correlated with lymph node metastases and both ER(+) and PR(+)(P0.05),but the expressions of TopoⅡα,were positively correlated with both ER(+) and PR(+) breast cancer tissues(P0.05).Conclusions:The results suggested that c-erbB-2 can be an effective marker for estimating the prognosis of breast cancer.The expressions of TopoⅡα may be useful in predicting prognosis and guiding chemotherapy.
