Polarized luminescence of polymers with indole-containing luminescent groups☆

1982
Abstract An analysis has been made of the relaxation of spectra labelled indole- and anthracene-containing macromolecules, the spectra being manifested in the polarized luminescence of solutions of the polymers. It has been established that the principal relaxation process affecting the polarized luminescence of indole-containing macromolecules is the mobility of the luminescent indole groups, which depends on their contacts with the macromolecular environment. It has been shown that variation in the mobility of the indole groups covalently bonded to the macromolecule does not correlate with variation in the mobility of the polymer's main chain.
