Conservation approach for mass multiplication of sinarundinaria anceps (mitf.) Chao & renvoize through culm cutting: easy and farmers friendly technology
2014
Due to high exploitation of bamboo in past, the natural resource status is dwindling fast and the problem is further compounded by gregarious flowering resulting into death of entire clumps following seeding. Considering the limitation of seed supply the present study was carried out to develop various easy and farmer's friendly technologies. From the present study, it was noticed that the variation in treatments among different seasons in relation to rooting percentage was highly significant (P<0.001).The maximum (28.33%) rooting was discernible in cuttings treated with IBA 500 ppm followed by (20.83%) in untreated i.e. control cuttings, while minimum (13.33%) in the cuttings treated with NAA 500 ppm. Overall, the maximum rooting (33.33%) was recorded in summer season (July-October) in the cuttings treated with IBA 500 ppm followed by (21.67%) in untreated cuttings (control) in spring season (March-June).
