Deoxigeneration of boiler water and oxygen scavenger

1992
PURPOSE: To remove oxygen from boiler water and to passivate the metallic surfaces in contact with the boiler water by using N, N, N-tetra substitution type phenylene diamine compsn. as effective components. CONSTITUTION: The boiler water is treated by using an oxygen scavenger compd. consisting of the N,N,N'-tetra methyl-1,4-phenylene diamine expressed by the formula and their salts, etc. In the formula, R is a lower chain and branched chain alkyl group having 1 to 4C, carboxylated group expressed by -(CH 2 ) n -COOM (M is H, on alkaline metal cation, etc.). The oxygen scavenger is mixed with another antioxidant. The oxygen scavenger compd. is preferably used in boiler feed water or deaerator drop-leg water. The effective concn. in the boiler water is 100 ppb to 50 ppm. COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO
