El perfil de los estados de ánimo (POMS)

1993
In this study we have created the norms for the Profile of Mood States (PO MS) for the Valencian students. We show the results obtained with the profile of Mood States for both the total score as well as the score for each one of its fatcrors. We also analyze the reliability coefficients (Cronbach's alphas) for both the 6 subscales and the rotal score. Lastly we study the differences in the Mood States between: a) males and females, b) the subjects who practice sports and those who do not, c) the subjects who participate in competitions and those who do not, and d) the subjects who do not practice sports and those that participate in sports competitions. The sample was composed of 804 subjects (260 males and 544 females). The Reliability coefficients (Cronbach's alpha) show for the subscales were satisfactory and ranged from 80 to 92. The results of analizing differences between groups indicate that: a) the males have more positive mood profiles than the females; b) people that practice sports have more positive scores in some scales' factors than people that do not practice sports; c) people that compete have more positive scores than people that do not compete; d) people that compete have more positive scores than people that do not practice sports. Although this positive relationship between practicing sports and positive mood states is present in both sexes, it is more relevant in the group of females that practices sport, especially in the group that takes part in sports competitions
