Research on the by-products of bauxite deposits in southeast Yunnan province

The southeastern Yunnan province is abundant with bauxite resources.This paper researches on the major bauxite deposits and is concentrated on evaluation of the by-products.Average content of TiO2 of 92.6% of total samples from the aluminum-bearing rock in the deposits is 4.58%,much higher than the cut-off grade of Titanium of the primary aluminum deposits;average content ofΣREE of 45.7%of total samples 769.10×10-6,approximate to the cut-off grade of the adsorption rare earth deposits;average content of Nb of 84.0% of total samples,121.03×10-6,about two times of the cut-off grade of the lateritic Nb deposit;average content of Ga of 68.5% of total samples 28.86×10-6,higher than minimum content of bauxite ore.Comprehensive utilization of the by-products should be considered.
