Valoración de la tomografía por emisión de positrones (PET- 18FDG) en la estadificación del cáncer de mama*

2001
SUMMARY The status of axillary nodes is the most important prognostic factor in breast cancer (BC), and at the moment the only way to determine this status reliably is the hystologic analysis. Positron emision tomography (PET) has been described as a useful technique for the analysis of some tumors. Its application in breast cancer must be more thoroughy studied. 100 cases of BC have been studied by PET with 18 F-fluoro-2-deoxi-D-glucose ( 18 FDG), its concentration was analysed in primary tumor, axillary and internal mammary nodes as well as in the whole body. In 15 cases a new PET was performed after a second injection of 18
