Investigation of sleep disorder in seventy-three children with epilepsy

Objective To study the sleep conditions,the prevalence of sleep disorders,and the related factors in epileptic children.Methods Children who received antiepileptic treatment in outpatient clinic were randomly selected,their parents were investigated with questionnaires related to their family,social-economic status and sleep conditions of the children.Results Prevalence of sleep disorder was 13.70%.The average PSQI score among the epileptic children was(4.69 ± 3.68).The main possible risk factors affecting the sleep conditions were age and seizure frequency.The gender,smoking history of parents,educational background of parents were not closely related to sleep disorder.Conclusions There is a lower prevalence rate of sleep disorders in epileptic children received medical treatment in outpatient clinic.The main risk factors linked to sleep disorders were age and seizure frequency.
