NO reduction by CO and H2 over a Pt/CoOx/SiO2 catalyst ― effect of CoOx on the activity and selectivity

The reduction of NO x is one of the most important issues in automotive pollution control. In this paper we describe the performance of Pt/CoO x /SiO 2 catalysts. We have made a series of 5 w% Pt/CoO x /SiO 2 catalysts, with different cobalt oxide loadings. It was found that adding 3 w% Co 3 O 4 resulted in a catalyst that oxidizes CO already at room temperature. In the present paper we report results of comparative studies of the CO/NO and NO/H 2 reactions over Pt/CoO x /SiO 2 , Pt/SiO 2 and CoO x /SiO 2 catalysts.
