The paper discusses the review of behavioral travel demand analysis from the perspective of a transportation planner, with the focus on the payoffs that methodological innovations have had and can have in improving travel demand forecasts and policy evaluations. Also discussed are the theories of individual decision making behavior, data, models, statistical methods, and procedures for simulation and forecasting that are important and useful for evaluating transportation investments and conducting transportation operations.
