Interface characteristics and mechanical property of titanium/steel joint by electron beam brazing with 72Ag-28Cu filler metal

Abstract According to the different microstructural features, 304SS/72Ag-28Cu/TA15 (304 stainless steel) joint was separated into three reaction zones. The brazed joint under a beam current of 2.6 mA showed a typical microstructure of 304SS matrix/α-Fe(Cr,Ni)+τ/TiFe2+TiCu4/Cu-base solid solution (Cu(s,s))+Ag-base solid solution (Ag(s,s))+Ag-Cu eutectic/Ti3Cu4+TiCu+Ti2(Ag,Cu)+α-Ti/TA15 matrix. Uniform and desired microstructure of 304SS/72Ag-28Cu/TA15 joint was obtained when the beam current was between 2.0mA and 2.6mA. Lower (
