GEOMETRIC PRODUCT MODELS (GPM), AN INTEP.-NORDIC CAD PROJECT

1982
GPM is an inter-Nordic cooperation project between five research institutes and seven pilot companies in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland. The aim is to develop a FORTRAN subroutine package for handling geometry, as the central nucleus of integrated CAD/CAM systems. The system handles solid volume geometry, sculptured surfaces and assembled plate constructions. No other system handles these three geometry-types. The project started in 1978, ends in 1982 and has a total cost of about 3 000$. The work is part of the inter-Nordic research program in CAD, in which drafting, manufacturing and analysis applications will be covered.
