Current and emerging standards in document imaging and storage

1992
Scientists, engineers, and business managers can use document image transfer, retrieval and evaluation, optical disk and document scanning, and document design and conversion to generate image databases. The author describes electronic information management (EIM) standards of the American Society for Information and Image Management (AIIM). It includes the AIIM Imagery Database. Topics are image capture, recording, processing, duplication, distribution, display, evaluation, preservation, and media. It contains standards, publication dates, keywords, and abstracts. AIIM is a standards developing organization of ANSI. Some standards for document and image storage include: ANSI/AIIM MS44-1988: Standard recommended practice for the quality control of image scanners; ANSI/AIIM MS49-proposed: Standard recommended practice for scanning from roll film and microfiche; ANSI/AIIM MS50-proposed: Standard recommended practice for monitoring image quality of aperture card film image scanners; ANSI/AIIM MS52-proposed: Standard recommended practice for the requirements and characteristics of original documents intended for optical scanning.
