ROLE OF ANGULAR MOMENTUM IN COMPLETE FUSION REACTIONS: $sup 11$B + $sup 159$Tb, $sup 12$C + $sup 158$Gd, $sup 16$O + $sup 154$Sm.
1973
Measurements are reported for the complete-fusion cross sections in the reactions of ${\mathrm{B}}^{11}$ + ${\mathrm{Tb}}^{159}$, ${\mathrm{C}}^{12}$ + ${\mathrm{Gd}}^{158}$, and ${\mathrm{O}}^{16}$ + ${\mathrm{Sm}}^{154}$ at bombarding energies such that the excitation energy of the ${\mathrm{Yb}}^{170}$ compound nuclei that are formed is 107 MeV. The results indicate that the complete-fusion cross sections are determined by dynamical processes in the entrance channel rather than by the equilibrium properties of the compound system.
