Clinical anatomic study of anterior cruciate ligament attachment to the femur.

2010
[Objective]To study the morphology, location, and sizes of the nature ACL attachment to the femur on femoral specimen and to offer a new morphological classification method,in order to provide anatomic evidences for clinical ACL reconstruction.[Method]Sixty-seven pairs of ACL femoral attachment on adult femoral specimen of known sex were anatomized and the aera, morphology and relationship with surrounding structures were measured.[Result]The aera of the femoral attachment of ACL was(104.4±30.8)mm2 in male and(81.4±29.1)mm in female. They had very significant difference between male and female in statistics(P0.01).The shape of the femoral attachment of the ACL was oval in 49 cases, accounting for 36.6%,crescent in 39 cases, accounting for 29.1%,circular in 20 cases, accounting for 14.9%,rectangle in 17 cases, accounting for 12.7%,irregular in 9 cases, accounting for 6.6%.[Conclusion]The shape of femoral attachments of the ACL could be divided into various types, such as oval, crescent, circular, rectangle and irregular types. The aera of the femoral attachment of ACL had gender difference. When reconstructing the ACL,we should take morphology, location, sizes, sex into account and provide a individualized reconstruction method.
