Quantitative analysis, precision and reproducibility

1997
In capillary electrophoresis (CE) analysis, principally two quantitative values are obtained. One is a peak area or height as an index of concentration in the detection zone which corresponds to the sample mass in the objective zone. The other is the migration time which generally represents the qualitative characteristics of the sample. Quantitative indices can be derived from the migration time in certain measuring systems, dissociation/association constants in affinity CE, the molecular weight in molecular sieving mode, isoelectric point (pI) in capillary isoelectric focusing (CIEF), etc. These two pieces of information, the peak area/height and the migration time, are described in this chapter.
