Data And Inversion Driven Adaptive Geophysical Data Acquisition
2003
Geophysical data sets collected using predetermined acquisition configurations will most often not have the maximum possible information content. Consequently, inversion or data processing results from these data sets will not be as good as results obtained from complete datasets – datasets which do have the maximum possible information content. By reformulating data acquisition process to be dynamic and data and inversion dependent, optimum data (and thus optimum images) can be obtained. Examples of adaptive acquisition show the feasibility of this approach and the improvement in information and image content s over traditional methods
